Welcome to Young Israel of Skokie! A warm, welcoming, family-friendly synagogue providing a spiritually uplifting Jewish experience. Join us today!
Under the leadership of Rabbi Gershon Schaffel, we provide a meaningful davening, many learning opportunities, and a warm and welcoming chevra. A Letter from our YIOS President
Dear Members and Friends,
As the High Holidays approach, we look forward to gathering once again in prayer, reflection, and celebration of the New Year. It is always inspiring to see our synagogue filled with families and friends joining in the spirit of these sacred days.
Seating Reservations
Please follow this link in order to complete the seating reservation. We kindly ask that you complete it by September 10, so that we can ensure proper arrangements are made for everyone.
Honors bidding
To bid on honors for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, please send an email to Jonathan Lewis at fortranosaur@gmail.com. Be sure to include “YIOS Honors” in the subject line.
Membership and Building Fund
At this time you should have received statements from the shul. We are deeply grateful to those who have already fulfilled their financial commitments for the year. For those who have not yet done so, please remember that our synagogue depends on the support of its members. This year’s dues are as follows:
- Family Membership: $1,800
- Single Membership: $900
- New Members: 50% discount
- Building Fund Contribution: $3000 payable over 5 years
- High Holiday seats for guests: $100/seat each holiday (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur)
These contributions allow us to maintain our building, sustain our programs, and ensure that our community remains strong and welcoming. If you are in a position to make an additional donation at this time of year, please know it will be greatly appreciated and will go directly toward strengthening our congregation. At the same time, no member or anyone wanting to join will be turned away if this is beyond their budget. Please confidentially contact us and a dues adjustment will be made.
Looking Ahead
We are blessed to have Rabbi Schaffel leading us with wisdom, inspiration, and care. Together with him, we look forward to welcoming the New Year with renewed spirit and strength.
On behalf of the Board, and ourselves, we wish you and your loved ones a Shanah Tovah U’Metukah — a good and sweet year filled with health, blessing, and peace.
Sincerely,
Pinhas Gurevich - President, Young Israel of Skokie
Ellen Cohen - Vice President, Young Israel of Skokie
